We heard from members of local organizations, students, and families alike. We heard about the need for supportive and affordable housing; the urgency of protecting our land and future; and how movements only succeed when everyday people join together and lead the way.

Yesterday’s rally and community gathering in Strathcona Park reminded me why we do this.
Over 40 neighbours came together to hear about our campaign, share stories, and imagine a better future by reflecting on what real change can look like in Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester.
We were honoured to be joined by our speakers, Devon Crick (Director of Development at the Broadbent Institute) and Naanii Rose (Haida Grandmother).
Their words—and the reflections of everyone who joined, including local students volunteering for the first time—spoke to something we all feel: that life is getting harder than it should be, and that the status quo is failing too many of us.
We heard about the need for supportive and affordable housing; the urgency of protecting our land and future; and how movements only succeed when everyday people join together and lead the way.
One of the students who joined us shared: “This day changed my way of thinking about politics.”
That’s what volunteering on a campaign is about. It opens your eyes to how much good we can do when we show up—for each other, and for something bigger than ourselves.
As Canadians, we’re strongest when we take care of one another. And we each have a role to play in building a future rooted in dignity, fairness, and change—not more of the same.
That’s why I’m proud to be your NDP candidate—and to be doing this work alongside every person who has given their time, energy, and heart to this campaign.

Le rassemblement d'hier au parc Strathcona m'a rappelé pourquoi nous faisons cela.
Plus de 40 voisins se sont rassemblés pour entendre parler de notre campagne, partager des histoires et imaginer un avenir meilleur en réfléchissant à ce que pourrait être un véritable changement dans la région d'Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester.
Nous avons eu l'honneur d'être rejoints par nos conférenciers, Devon Crick (directeur du développement à l'Institut Broadbent) et Naanii Rose (grand-mère haïda).
Leurs paroles - et les réflexions de tous les participants, y compris des étudiants locaux qui se portaient volontaires pour la première fois - ont fait écho à quelque chose que nous ressentons tous : la vie devient plus difficile qu'elle ne devrait l'être et le statu quo laisse tomber un trop grand nombre d'entre nous.
Nous avons entendu parler de la nécessité de logements solidaires et abordables, de l'urgence de protéger nos terres et notre avenir, et du fait que les mouvements ne réussissent que lorsque les gens de tous les jours s'unissent et ouvrent la voie.
L'un des étudiants qui nous a rejoints nous a fait part de son expérience: «Cette journée a changé ma façon de penser la politique».
Voilà ce qu'est le bénévolat dans une campagne. Cela vous ouvre les yeux sur tout le bien que nous pouvons faire lorsque nous nous montrons - les uns pour les autres, et pour quelque chose de plus grand que nous.
En tant que Canadiens, nous sommes plus forts lorsque nous prenons soin les uns des autres. Et nous avons tous un rôle à jouer dans la construction d'un avenir fondé sur la dignité, l'équité et le changement, et non sur la perpétuation de la même chose.
C'est pourquoi je suis fier d'être votre candidat néo-démocrate et de faire ce travail aux côtés de tous ceux qui ont consacré leur temps, leur énergie et leur cœur à cette campagne.
