Fighting for our Community

Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester is one of our country’s most vibrant, diverse and resilient communities. Our neighbours are kind, passionate about helping each other, and work hard every day to support their families and build a better future.

But when I speak to folks—on the bus, in the streets, and around our community—I also hear deep frustration and disappointment. Housing costs are out of control. Our community organizations are desperate for support. Families are stretched too thin.

For too long, the voices of the people who make this riding thrive have been ignored. We’ve been left behind by representatives who speak to us, not with us. People are losing hope and are tired of being told that better isn’t possible.

That’s why I’m running to be your neighbour in Parliament.

A true representative of the people who listens, acts, and works hand in hand with our community to serve the place we call home.

About Tristan

I come from a multicultural background—French-Canadian and South African—that has shaped my understanding of what it means to build community across differences.

Like so many in Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester, I’ve lived the struggles that define our riding:

  • I share the fear of many young Canadians who hope to raise a family but do not know if they can afford it.

  • I ride the bus to work every day and know the frustration of unreliable transit.

  • I’ve started a small business and understand the challenges local entrepreneurs face.

  • I’ve lived with a parent who struggled with mental health and addiction, seeing how easy it is for people who are struggling to be left behind without help.

I am proud to have dedicated my career to helping people and impactful organizations solve problems and build a brighter future.

As the founder of Roots of Purpose, I’ve helped non-profits, charities, and foundations build lasting impact through strategy, storytelling and problem-solving. I’ve supported organizations tackling homelessness prevention, advancing climate action, and promoting the healthy development of children and youth.

In the past, I worked on Parliament Hill, where I was inspired by the dedication of NDP MPs to fight for people and deliver real change for all Canadians.

I’ve served on the board of community organizations—advocating for affordable housing, equity, and a more inclusive Ottawa—and on my local housing association, where I amplify and represent the voices of my neighbours.

These experiences—both in the community and at the heart of Parliament—have prepared me to be a responsive, effective, and compassionate representative for our riding.

My question is, are you ready to help us win?

“In a time when Pierre Poilievre and his right-wing conservatives pit workers against each other and offer scapegoats instead of solutions, Tristan Oliff stands out as a leader who truly cares about creating a better future for the people of Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester.

Having worked closely alongside Tristan, I can confidently say his lived experience, deep community roots, and personal integrity make him the compassionate and determined voice we need in Parliament.”

Matthew Green - NDP Member of Parliament for Hamilton Centre

What we’re fighting for

Across Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester, countless people and organizations work tirelessly to look out for our people and fill the gaps where governments have failed.

We deserve representatives who fight as hard as our neighbours do.

Instead, we’ve been ignored by federal Liberal and provincial Conservative governments that are quick to deny and deflect responsibility. We cannot afford to keep electing career politicians who care more about their public image than doing the hard work of solving the urgent problems we face.

The challenges facing our community, country, and the world are immense. Meanwhile, corporations gifted tax cuts by our governments are gouging us at the pumps and in grocery stores while making record profits.

  • Families are struggling to pay their bills.

  • Young people are scared about the future of our planet.

  • Seniors cannot afford the care they need.

  • Homelessness and food bank dependency are at all-time highs.

  • Human rights are being trampled across the world.

Like tens of thousands of others across our community—I’ve had enough—we deserve better, and I’m ready to prove that better is possible when we elect a real neighbour to Parliament.

As your MP, I will fight every day to ensure your voices are heard and that our people, families, small businesses, and local organizations get the help we need—not just to survive but to thrive.

My office door will always be open. My team and I will listen deeply to your stories, struggles, and hopes for the future. We will work tirelessly to deliver the solutions our community needs.

I will be determined and unyielding in my mission to serve our community, devoting all my energy to bringing the action and the lasting change our neighbours desperately need.

Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester will not be failed again.
